When I first moved to South Africa in 2014, I craved uncensored, original Asian flavors. All I could find was mayonnaise with a small side of sushi. So I started to cook: a hearty bowl of Japanese udon, Korean BBQ and kimchi fried rice, Chinese dumplings, Vietnamese street foodâŚ
As my food became more popular amongst my friends, I found that a lot of South Africans have the same issue. Instead of mourning the loss of the taste of âhomeâ, my kitchen became the home of Asian food, expanding to be a school and bespoke pantry all in one. And thatâs the beginning of my humble journey, now with my team.
