Contrary to popular belief, Japanese housewives don't make sushi and ramen at home: these dishes are laboriously produced by highly skilled chefs. Hand-rolled sushi is an easy fix with only needing to make the sushi rice and slice up the fillings.Everybody allows their imaginations to run wild to create their own. 

Perfect for date night, a family weekend meal & social gatherings or a meal for oneself with style. Get the party started without the stress of trying to please everyone!

Course Contents

Note: An upgraded adaptation of the "Sushi 101" class

  1. Sushi rice: cooking short-grain rice + sushi vinaigrette
  2. Dipping sauces: gochujang sauce, Korean mustard sauce
  3. Korean-style sushi toppings: onion in a lemon Parmesan sauce, avocado puree, seasoned crab meat
  4. Preparing vegetables
  5. Setting up the table for a sushi party
  6. Handling raw seafood: how to select sashimi-grade seafood, storage & defrosting, sashimi cutting, poaching and blow-torching
  7. Making nigiri, temaki and inari sushi (or gunkan maki)
    • Mandatory Ingredients (no substitutions):raw fish, soy sauce (contains soy, wheat, yeast), mirim, sesame oil, egg, cheese, mayonnaise
    • Optional ingredients: crab, prawns, beef
    • Relatively gluten-free: if you can consume soy sauce, please join.
    • Duration: 4 hours / 50% demo + 50% hands-on
    • Class frequency: 4 sessions in 2022
    • Advanced sushi workshop will launch later to teach Californian rolls for which this class is a prerequisite.
    • Complementary class: Knife Skills 101
